Before you go:
- From state of the art poker tables and an in house British restaurant to light laden bar backs, G Casino is a multi-purpose venue, even housing conference rooms for those that need them. Popular with hen.
- The Grosvenor G Casino was going to be the savior of New Brighton attracting large numbers. Because a friend of mine spotted me an my son loitering in the vicinity (at a cash point, actually) he dragged us in.

- The G in Brighton is down near the pier, having been relocated from its old location up by the train station year ago. The new location is pretty much dead centre of Brighton, and therefore is a bit stuck for car parking – I guess the ground floor space is expensive, since they are up on the second floor.

The G in Brighton is down near the pier, having been relocated from its old location up by the train station year ago. The new location is pretty much dead centre of Brighton, and therefore is a bit stuck for car parking – I guess the ground floor space is expensive, since they are up on the second floor. Stairs and lifts are provided, although the lifts are among the more terrifying you might find, jerking like they have hiccups and making all kinds of “you’re about to die” noises. Pro tip – they seem to be on different control systems, so press the button for both lifts for a faster service.
When you pop out at the top, it’s a reasonably familiar sight – this site started life as a bog standard Grosvenor Casino, but was converted to a “G” casino, not that you could tell. The table gaming area is much lower than the rest of the amenities – a real old school “pit” – so there are lots of opportunities to sit at the Electronic roulette terminals and look over the floor, always a nice angle. As you walk in, you head around to your left through the slots area towards the bar. The slot offer is bang up to date, with some new IGT super high def boxes as well as your favourite multi game IGT and Gaminator offers. Much of the (Friday) night I visited, the slots were all pretty much full, as it happens. Playing the slots, by the way, would have been a lot more comfortable for me without the loud Asian ladies stood right behind me commenting in their own language about what I was doing. Rude buggers.
The bar is a really nice one here, torpedo shaped, with the smallish restaurant the far side and the dreaded stage the side nearest to the door, luckily not in use when I visited (see Genting Salford review for the doomsday cabaret scenario). There’s also a smallish poker room down on the right as you enter, although there was some sort of building work going on when I visited making a mess of that end of the casino.

Many of the staff were having to wear T shirts advertising what evidently was the latest big thing, Dragon 21 (presumably a Blackjack variant) although it didn’t look like the T shirts were working – the table was empty the entire time I was there. Shame really, although the other tables were busy – it’s a good playing environment however, with the sunken pit with TVs all around the walls.
It’s a cracking site overall, with rocket speed valet service and a friendly bunch, plus a deal with the local cinema for £14.95 for a movie and a meal, great value and highly recommended.
