Mediaset España boosts ProSiebenSat.1 stake; TIM, Vodafone complete towers deal

TOP NEWS

* Mediaset España Comunicación SA secured an additional 9,902,500 shares in ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE, representing 4.25% of the German media company's share capital and 4.38% of voting rights. The transaction, worth €61 million, brings the Mediaset SpA unit's voting rights in ProSiebenSat.1 to 20.1%.

* Vodafone Group PLC's Vodafone Italia SpA and Telecom Italia SpA completed the merger of Vodafone Italy's towers into Infrastrutture Wireless Italiane SpA. Telecom Italia and Vodafone will each own a 37.5% stake in INWIT and plan to retain joint control. However, the companies will consider jointly lowering their stakes to at least 25%. INWIT shareholders earlier appointed a new board of directors for the merged entity.

* The review period under the Investment Canada Act for cinema operator Cineworld Group PLC's proposed C$2.8 billion acquisition of its Canadian peer Cineplex Inc. was extended to the end of March. Cineplex expects to meet all closing conditions for the deal on or before June 30.

Communications

* U.K.-based Advanced Computer Software Group Ltd. acquired Tikit Group PLC, which provides legal, accounting and professional services software, from British Telecom. The sale of Tikit will allow BT to focus on fiber and 5G network investments.

* Finnish telecom equipment maker Nokia Corp. completed its acquisition of Elenion Technologies LLC, a New York-based developer of silicon photonics technologies for optical interfaces used in 5G, cloud and networking platforms. Nokia expects the acquisition to help expand its optical networking business and boost its product offering for telecom operators.
